Yarn Bombing Love.

Happy Friday to you! I saw a great post on Yarn Bombing today via Apartment Therapy, and I immediately wanted to collect more images and make a post about it as well. (big, fat copycat..i know) It feels like forever since I've had time to pick up my crochet needles and yarn to just create. I love how busy the shop (and my personal life) have been lately, but it sure doesn't lend for much leisurely craft time. I should really set aside some time for crochet-therapy in the near future.
Here are some yarn bombing displays that I very much fancy:

We need more yarn art in Phoenix! I recently heard about a group of local ladies who are trying to start the movement here. I think I may need to connect with them...it's such a beautiful, non-harmful form of art. The possibilities are endless.

Handmade Holiday.

Hey there. Merry Monday! I ran out of time to post this yesterday, but here's a little looksy at the handmade gifts I made this year...beer cozies!

The morning I snapped these quick photos, the light was shining in the room in the most artsy way, teehee.
After I made cozies for my best friends, I decided the mister and I needed one too :). Then on Christmas I brought our cozies to my Aunt's to use (and kinda show off) and now my newly 21 year-old sister wants one, my mum, and one of my cousins. Woot! Everyone was talking about how much I remind them of my late grandmother. It was truly a compliment for me, because we were very very close when she was living, and she is still my biggest idol. Granny-love ♥.

I'm starting to pack up all the holiday goodies in our house...man-o-man Christmas can be messy. We left a bunch of wrapping paper on the floor so our kitties could enjoy it, and now it's alllll over the place in itty bitty pieces, because April, the terrorist, just loves to make momma clean, hahah.

On a Butter Toast note: Jasmine, my business partner, loved the cozy I made her....I think I may start making them for the shop...I'd love to get some feedback from our shoppers..
1.) good idea/bad idea?
2.) colors? men and women?
3.) how much would you pay?

Let me know!!

Long lost love.

I realized today that I have not crocheted anything in quite some time. Crocheting used to be my go-to hobby whenever I was bored or stressed (it turned into a therapy for me), but lately I keep finding new things to get interested in/collect/swoon over that I've completely neglected my crocheting...and I had a goal this year to make a little something for the many people on my holiday gift list...pfft, mid-November isn't the best time to remember such a thing! So it looks like I better get-a-workin' if I want to complete anything substantial before the holidays. To gain inspiration, I browsed Etsy (of course) to get some ideas on what I should work on next. So many cute things to make, whatever shall I start with?

I really wish I had more time to make everyone I love something adorable for the holidays. Hopefully, I can at least knock out a few awesome handmade gifts before the time comes :)

Food Friday.

So, I'm sitting at the shop right now...and I'm getting hungry. I only came prepared with animal crackers...not the most satisfying of munchies. My current hunger is most likely what motivated me to make this food related post on this fine Friday.

Crocheted food...it's still on my creative list of to-do's.
I know its yarn, but doesn't it look delicious!

good day, wednesday.

Today was a nice little change from my weekly routine. Typically, I'm always at Butter Toast open to close on Wednesdays, but not today...My lovely business partner, Jasmine, let me take it easy while she manned the shop all morning.
And I definitely did take it easy. Woke up around 8am with my babe. Made us a yummy breakfast. Watched a few episodes of Weeds. The went back to sleep for 3 hours. It was such a lovely little break.

I'm looking forward to Craft Night hosted by Merry May Handmade tomorrow night. I'm finally going to put the finishing touches on the little gnome I've been working on. Here's a little looksy of what I've finished so far <3

The porcelain fawn modeling my gnome-in-progress is one of my favorite buys ever, also from the lovely Ashley at Merry May Handmade.
All I have to do now is add a beard and some button eyes, stuff him, then sew him all up! Please come join us for Craft Night every 2nd Thursday of the month. Located at Butter Toast Boutique, 5pm-8pm.

Tonight, we are rounding up our photoshoot crew to for yet another vintage shoot for our online store.
Maybe I'll snap a few behind the scenes shots and share them you all soon!!

Cafe d'amour.

Good Morning out there...

I have the day off my "day" job today, and I'm going to try to make it a productive one. I got a head start last night when I spent several hours organizing my studio/craft room/closet room while dancing & singing to Patsy Cline. Today, I'm happy to wake up knowing I made some progress last night that I can build on today. I just enjoyed my first cup of 'jo, but I have a feeling I will need a few more cups to really jumpstart my engine.

Although I have a million things on my to-do list, one of the cutest things I have to do is to finish the crochet gnome I started on Sunday...Hopefully I'll be back later with a post about that.

P.S.- Jasmine is at Butter Toast today, so go say hello and check out the new lingerie line by Kelly Cabrese we have in the shop now. There are several positive changes headed Butter Toast's way here in September...but I'll touch more on that later.

Have a productive Tuesday loves.

My little crochet cactus.

I feel like hell this morning. For some ungodly reason I thought champagne on First Friday was a good idea last night. Ooops. But as promised, I brought my laptop in today so I can (finally) share photos of my last crochet project. Some images are from my crappy phone, so please bare with me...

This was the first photo I took. I had completed the main portion of the cactus, and was almost done with the pot for it. (somebody needs a manicure, huh?)

The mister thought it'd be fun to make the pieces into a pac-man ghost fisherman guy...and it was. April, my little bean, also enjoyed it....

Please pardon my super messy house, we were in the process of moving...

At this point, I had made an arm for my cactus, and was in process of adding some soil.

And after making a few cactus flowers and stuffing and sewing everything together, I finally had finished the project I set out to do. I have a bad habit of starting many-a-projects at once then it takes ten years to finish anything...but this time, I got it done in close to a week....that's even with moving! I was fairly proud of myself.

This is where I got the idea from...she gives instructions for how to make it, but after glancing through them, I kind of took my own approach....I didn't quite get the ridging right, but overall, my goal was achieved! Click the photo to take you to her flickr where she gives instructions.

Crochet Cactus revisited + free pattern

I'm currently working out of this amazing book:

and so far this is what I've done:

I also have about a billion other projects in mind, so I'm not fully sure if I'll make it all the way through the book before starting something new....but when I do, I'll be sure to post about it :)

Take care lovies. Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Sushi Crochet, Hooray!

Well, hello.

I'm craving sushi. I've been without for far too long. I've been gazing at these lovely crocheted sushi pieces....they are mega adorable, but somehow a mouthful of yarn won't satisfy this craving. I'm going to make a sushi date with my love this weekend, hands down.

Yum Yum Yum!

So, I finally gathered the images from my crochet cactus project I mentioned in the last post...But the mister and I have been having horrible car troubles to I had to walk to the shop today, no biggie, but I so didn't feel like lugging my laptop in today. I pinky promise, I will post them tomorrow....I think it turned out pretty cute for my first time around, I can't wait to make a whole cactus garden!

Gotta get back to store duties loves....It's First Friday, so we must prepare for the art walk.

Have a super Friday night!

It's been awhile...and its because I've been crafting.

I've seriously neglected the internet lately. I hardly update anything anymore, before the shop moved locations I had nothing better to do but be online...Lately that's not the case at all, I've been in hands-on mode with store projects and personal craft projects, leaving very little time for online therapy. So I have a new [old] goal of blogging more [yah, yah, yah...]. We've been doing a lot of cute stuff at Butter Toast lately, and I've been a very bad girl about not blogging about anything. Please forgive.
I would personally like to invite you to enjoy my dear friend Ashley Eaton's blog, Merry May Handmade. She is the newest member of our Butter Toast team after she opened her own crafts-and-more shop, Merry May Handmade, within Butter Toast. Ashley is a much better blogger than myself or Jasmine, so check her blog for updates too! I'm hoping to get some guest blogs from her in the near future, so stay tuned :)

I didn't bring any of my many craft projects to the shop today, or else I'd probably be working on those versus blogging (oops.) So of course, I'm day dreaming about all the cute things I want to make in the future....Here's a small taste of the million things I constantly have my mind on.
Click the images for sources.

This would be mighty cute along side of all my newly pink-obsessed home decor and wardrobe. I've felt quite girlie lately.

My crochet work is not up to par yet, but I do hope to create something this beautiful someday....And once I can rid my sewing machine fright, I want to make use of all of my vintage fabric I've collected over the years!

Beyond cute, enough said. This may even be in the realm of my crochet ability.

This flickr user included a pattern for this cutey, and I have all the right colors at home. This shall become my Saturday night project, I can't wait!

I promise to snap some pics of upcoming projects and share. I NEED to get better at this blogging thing.
Ta-ta for now. xo
