Nice :) I like your layout!
I love Twiggy, that would be the best thing if she married one of the beatles. my two favrouite things.!
Extremely thin. Don't like her.
You call her a pioneer...Yes, she's the pioneer of extreme thinness...Her image did more damage than good...It's sad that you call her inspiring. The pictures you chose...yes, they are interesting from a purely artistic point of view, but what they did to a woman's psyche....Are we supposed to be simply "mannequins, " (first picture) or a "woman-child"(the rest)...???All this makes me mad.
Basia,We are sorry to have offended you. You make very valid points. We love vintage & we love Twiggy strictly for the vintage fashion, not for her body image. We agree that many models throughout history have damaged the psyche of women, and it is truly saddening. Thank you for your input.
In addition to Basia and Aqueleis' comments our local boutique is FULL of all vintage sizes.... including plus sized clothing. We support all women in all shapes and form, and strive to provide recycled vintage clothing for all!!!
Girls...take notice!!! Twiggy is SUPERHOT!!! Love slim women (all GUYS do!!!)
I read a recent article about Twiggy in the guardian, showing her at 60, she still looks gorgeous. She was thin in the photos on this page, but she was young. She is inspiring. People have the need to mention thinness, but there are very similar problems healthwise to obesity, its personal choice, also there are some people who are naturally thin. KJ
Keep in mind too ladies (and gents) that if you look at her pictures, you can tell that she has a naturally small frame. No bones are sticking out and her skin has a healthy tone to it. I love her..she is iconic. And whether we are large or small, we can appreciate her contribution to the fashion world. At least respect her for her work and footprint on society. She is a very positive person to learn about.
What Ive heard...stricty from a fashion designer's standpoint, is that models are supposed to be like hangers (thin and all that) to show the clothing best. Some models were SUPER scarey thin like twiggy. I think more striking than her body are her huge saucer eyes and pouty mouth. I think that made her interesting for the times
i sit here looking up these images for a young daughter who is wearing a 'mod' outfit to a contest at work tomorrow for their holiday party... i tried to show her pics of jean shrimpton but she only wanted to see twiggy .. as she watches 'top model'. it saddens me that after being tormented with twiggies image when i was in high school in the 60's .. here she is again to be placed as an icon for my daughters. will it ever end? my daughter has a perfect, slim body.. but can only call herself 'fat' every day.
Just because Twiggy was twiggy, doesn't mean you have to be. People are fickle, and they'll do anything to be like everyone else. Being extremely thin is not the most important thing. I'd rather be healthy than have osteoporoses when I'm fifty.
i don't really know anything about her but from the photos she does not seem unhappy, and although she is extremely thin she does not look unhealthily skinny as many models today do. but what i really wanted to say was, does anyone else see a resemblance between Twiggy's and Emma Whatson's facial bone structure?
Agreed, thin girls are soooo sexy!

i don't think that's fair. do you think she shouldn't have done what she wanted to do because of her natural body type? that's the exact same thing that you're against. restricting someone to do what you want or feel BECAUSE someone else disapproves of their body type. it's true twiggy started a whole new movement in silouettes, but i don't think it's fair to blame her for the negative repercussions that the MEDIA has aggravated. you think twiggy's career makes people who aren't her size feel bad? comments like these make me feel bad because i'm naturally small, skinny and thus, look like a "woman-child". is there something wrong with me?we have to accept ALL body types. there is no wrong or right body type. there is just what you are and staying true and healthy to it.
